Scope of the Program
Basic PCSOT:
The basic PCSOT course meets and exceeds the minimum guidelines established by American Polygraph Association (APA), the Joint Polygraph Committee on Offender Testing (JPCOT), the American Association of Police Polygraphists (AAPP) and ASTM. Those guidelines require the completion of a minimum of 40 hours of specialized sex offender polygraph examination training. Upon completion of this course, the student will gain a thorough understanding of post conviction sex offender polygraph examinations.
Students who are members of APA will be given an examination proctored by a representative of the APA. Those who complete this examination successfully will be awarded a certificate of completion by the APA. Other students who are members non-members of APA will receive a certificate of completion from The Arizona School of Polygraph Science.
Prerequisite for Basic PCSOT: In order for a polygraph examiner to attend this training course and take the APA Final Examination, the student must have attended and received a certificate of completion of a basic polygraph examination training course approved by the American Polygraph Association (APA) and must either be a member of APA or must submit an application prior to the final test.
Graduates of Non-APA Approved Polygraph Schools and Non-Members of APA: Graduates of Non-APA approved polygraph schools or non-members of APA may attend this course and an Arizona School of Polygraph Science Certificate of Attendance will be awarded.
Non-Examiners: (Treatment Providers, Parole or Probation Officers and/or others): Treatment providers/Parole or Probation Supervisors and/or others may also attend the course. The standard course test, or written assignment, will not be required. A modified test will be administered for these students. A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded upon successful completion of the test.
